CE III classes: What would you put in a time capsule?
My tattered-and-torn, battered-and-worn dictionary. My laptop. Of course, I'd have to hope for "Mac" people out there in the future! ~Woods
I would put in a copy of the Rushville Times. It captures a good picture of small town life.~Fife
I would probably have to put a softball or something that has to do with softball because thats what i love, pictures of loved ones, one of my many Bibles, and my ipod! ~savannah
I'd probably have to put a photo album of me and friends and family, because they are very important to me. I would also put my ipod, because I love music. The last thing i would put in the time capsule would be a basketball and running shoes, because I play basketball and run track and cross country, and thats a big part of me. - Mallory E.
I would put a picture of all of my friends and I in the time capsule because they are everything to me. I would definately have to put something pink in there because it is my favorite color, and I would put a knee pad in there because I love volleyball.
Erin Wilson
In the time Capsule I would put my camera in there because I love taking pictures of anything espicially with all of my friends and on my camera I would have all of my picutres of my friends, who mean so much to me. I would put put in my insoles to be thankful for my doctor making my feet better so that I can still run, and last I would want to put in a can of Mt. Dew because I usually start and finish my day with one.
Jaymee Hudson
I would put in a bible because the Lord's word has a HUGE impact on how I live my life, how my thoughts formulate in my mind, and my actions in general. The beginning of this year the Lord saved me from my sins. Of course, I know from the teachings in the Bible that I am a sinner (everyone is) and I am not sinless. I fall and Christ picks me back up. I was made perfect in Christ by Christ. Proverbs 119:105 "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." `~Sarah Mae~`
I would put a pic of all my friends cuz i love them all adn i pic of me running or playing vball or a shirt from one of the meets of games. O I would also have a pic of my family because they mean alot to me.
Chelsee Lisk Woods
I would put in the time capsule a softball, cause I love softball. Then I would put in my mp3 player, I need it really bad. And then I would put my photo ablums in and something to do with animals, cause I love my dogs, rabbits, and horses.
~Marcie Blackburn * Mrs. Woods~
I would put in a version of the newest cell phone on the market. Technology is changing so fast and I think that it would be interesting for people to see how much things had changed. I would also put in a recipe for my favorite food, green bean cheese casserole, so that it could be passed on for generations.
- Kasey Grover ~Mrs. Fife**
I would put in this time capsule the latest year book of Rushville Industry High School and a Plat Book. The yearbook shows the students and the people who were in sports, as well as all the groups that are in the high school. The Plat Book would show who lived were and who owned what land. I think it would be very cool to look back at the yearbook and plat book to see what kind of styles were in back then and too see if the same family still owns the same land in the future.
Kelcyn Taft --Mrs. Fife
Kelcyn, I know you're not "mine," but I love your idea! ~Woods
In this time capsule I would put a gas recipt to show the price per gallon, in the future they'd either consider us very lucky or knowing our luck, it will drop in the future. I would also put a picture of Rushville's brick roads in the time capsule because they are very significant to our small town. They resemble how old our township is and how important they are to us because we've kept them here for so long. I would also have to include a CD of various songs that are popular today so the future can see how much music taste will change.
Carissa Moore -- Mrs. Fife
I would put the two tapestries of the all the past Plays and Musicals that are hanging in Mrs. Fife's room, in the time capsule. RIHS is very lucky to have the amount of talented high schoolers it has, espeically considering our size, not many high schools can say that. In the future you don't know where the fine arts will go, they may disapear like they did in the middle ages, so I think it'd be important to show how much they influenced us and how much support we got from our town.
- Amanda Grafton, *Mrs. Fife
I would definately have to put my flute and marching band music in the time capsule. Our band is involved in a lot of things that are around this town. We have pep band, marching band, and concert band! We have probably one of the largest small-town bands known around this area. People would be able to look back at the music we played and marching proceedures we went through, realizing how AWESOME our band truly was. The flute can symbolize harmony and peacefulness while also portaying the pep that can be involved in band-oriented things as well! There could also be maybe our purple and gold ribbons that the fultes had on for our Quincy parade! Sporting our true colors, no matter what our future colors might turn out to be!
-Kaitlynn Dodds *Mrs. Fife
I would put in a bottle of Mt. Dew because it is my favorite drink i always have one in the morning to wake me up. I would put in my phone because i talk to all my friends on it all the time. I would also put in a pink shirt from american eagle because AE is my favorite store and pink is my favorite color.
-Allison Sargent Mrs. Woods
In the time capsule i would probably put a picture of my family and friends because they are a big part of my life. I definitely don't know what i would do without them. The next thing that i would probably put in my time capsule would probably be something that supports the rockets. I would probably put that in there because i think that the Rushville Rockets is a big part of Rushville. We have such great rocket spirit that i don't know what we would do without it. I would also probably put a cd or mp3 in it because later on the technology will change and in the future it would be very interesting to see how they listened to music in the past. They would also get to listen to what kind of music we listened to.
-Tori Breedlove -Mrs. Fife
I would put in My bible because it has played a huge role in my life since I was a little child. It says in the Bible "That God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that who so ever beliveth on him shall not perish but have ever lasting life" John 3:16. I love this verse and I know If i were to put my bible in a time capsule That who ever digs it up will be ministered to by the words out of my bible. I also know that My faith will go on and that the people in the furture will have new faith knowing that the people of the past lived for the same thing they do now.
***** Sarah Miller
I would also put some of the things already mentioned in a time capsule , expecially music and mabye a bible exc., and so many of them are awesome ideas but going along kindof with Kelcyns idea I think it would be cool if we put in calenders with room for notes on each day in them. One of those old calenders of what rushville used to look like and a new one of pictures of people and buildings as they are today. Also beside each day I think it would be cool to put a quick sumory of all that went on that day. Kindof like a little intry but mabye not always as long just as long as there would be something for about everyday. That would be cool because like the play Our Town people of the future would get to see what it was really like each day and how we lived each day today. If you could slip in one or two pictures of that event even if someone wanted to that would be awesome too. I most likely would because I would also love to put many other things in a time capsule but I think this would be really cool even if it was just us who looked back on it 20 years from now. ~Kristina K. {Fifes}
I would put in pictures of my friends because they're flipping sweet! I would also put in a Disneyland keychain. I really like Disneyland and California. I would also write a note to myself, explaining myself, how I act and go about my life. I think that would be neat to read a few years down the road.
-Tayler O. [[Woods]]
If i had to put something in to the time capsal than it would have to be my crosscountry shoes. and also my favorite superman hat and shirt that makes me feel invincible
-Aaron Ehrgott
I would put in my favorite golf hat, a basketball, my drumsticks, and a copy of superbad.
-Andy Rice (Woods)
I would put in my first home run ball, basketball shoes, a football, and my lucky shirt.
-Mike Thomas (Woods)
I would put in pictures of my friends and family because they all mean a lot to me. Without them, life just wouldn't be the same. I would also put in my favorite shirt which happens to be pink, my favorite color. Another thing I would put in the time capsule would be last years yearbook because I think it would be fun to see the changes in everyone down the road.
-Kayla Huffman {Woods}
If I were to put anything into a time capsule that would represent our lives as children here in Rushville, what would it be? Hmm. To begin with, I would put all of my friends there... not to kill them, mind you, but to preserve them and their constant friendship toward me. I would also put the feeling of love and the quickly fleeting sense of freedom of a childhood summer day.
Now, if we were not speaking metaphoricaly, but in materialistic terms that reminded me of myself and my childhood here in Rushville, I would more than likely put, as most everyone said, pictures of my friends- only because this is the next best thing to the actual thing called friendship. I would also throw in a few art sketches, from my childhood to now, if only to witness my progress in art. These are only a few things that represt me, and my time here in Rushville-Industry High School...
